＜prologue＞
I started a blog called “The Baby Boomer Generation’s Miscellaneous Blog”（Dankai-sedai no garakutatyou:団塊世代の我楽多（がらくた）帳） in July 2018, about a year before I fully retired. More than six years have passed since then, and the number of articles has increased considerably.
So, in order to make them accessible to people who don’t understand Japanese, I decided to translate my past articles into English and publish them.
It may sound a bit exaggerated, but I would like to make this my life’s work.
It should be noted that haiku and waka （Japanese short fixed form poems） are quite difficult to translate into English, so some parts are written in Japanese.
If you are interested in haiku or waka and would like to know more, please read introductory or specialized books on haiku or waka written in English.
I also write many articles about the Japanese language. I would be happy if these inspire more people to want to learn Japanese.

How much money do you have at your disposal every month?
If you are a salaried worker, your salary does not increase much and you cannot work overtime much anymore, so you probably wish you had 10,000 yen or 20,000 yen more to spend freely.
There are “point sites” where you can earn a small amount of points just by answering simple surveys or earning points every time you shop online.
It is also possible to earn high redemption points just by issuing a credit card or receiving free insurance consultation.
If you search the Internet, you will find many “point sites,” but you may not be sure which ones are safe and which ones are profitable.
Therefore, I would like to introduce some recommended point sites that I am also a registered member of.

２．Points to keep in mind when using point sites
(1) Answer surveys seriously.
If you do not answer the questionnaire truthfully, it will affect the data aggregation. If you give random and scattered answers, the computer may determine that your answers are “fraudulent” and the number of questionnaires may be reduced.
As for the answers themselves, if you uniformly select only the first item or only the last item, the computer may judge them as “unserious answers” and produce the same results as above.
（２）Do not talk to the consultant about redemption points for “free insurance consultation
On point sites, there are advertisements that offer high reduction points just for receiving “free insurance consultation.” However, it is not legal to talk about “reduction points” with “insurance consultants” because they are “neutral” and not informed of the conditions of the “point site” at all.
In extreme cases, it may be judged as “an insurance consultation that is clearly intended only to earn reduction points,” and points may not be awarded.
It is necessary to be in a position where the main objective is to seriously receive “free insurance consultation,” and as a byproduct of that, you will receive points from the point site.
（３）Points to keep in mind when issuing a “credit card”
①Apply for no more than one credit card in a month at most.
If you apply for many credit cards in a short period of time, you may be suspected of being a “multiple borrower” and your application may not be approved or may be registered in the “Personal Credit Information Agency.
②Check the “point earning conditions” carefully.
Please note that there are “conditions for earning points,” such as “You must spend at least 10,000 yen within 3 months after issuance of the card” or “You must set a cash advance limit,” and if you do not check them carefully, you will not earn points for not meeting the conditions.
Also, you need to carefully check the “annual fee conditions” of the credit card itself (conditions such as “an annual fee of xx yen is required after 2 years”). If you have a credit card with an annual fee that you will not use for a long time, please cancel it before the annual fee is deducted from your credit card account.
③”Doko Toku（Where to Get Points）” is a must reference when applying for a credit card issuance.
This is a convenient site to find the point sites where you can get the “highest redemption points” at the time of issuing a credit card.
Credit card redemption points fluctuate from month to month, and even at the same point in time, redemption points differ depending on the point site, so please be sure to refer to this site.
